HP Proliant Blade Servers
Many businesses and public sector organisations are looking at alternatives to the huge numbers of 1 and 2U rack mounted servers they currently run. Data Centre space is at a premium and many computer rooms are reaching their limits in power provision and heat management. IT Departments are also increasing stretched managing individual servers and deploying new applications. Abtech specialises in providing solutions to these problems working closely with HP.
The built in functionality, coupled with HP’s Insight Manager Data Centre Edition, address these key issues:
-
Power Management: The HP C class blade has built in Power and Thermal Management tools. Fans and power supplies are regulated according to the load on each server so the enclosure is never drawing any more power than it needs.
-
Connectivity: The wide range of interconnects available can dramatically reduce the number of cables for both fibre and networking. This results in a tidier data centre that is easier to manage.
-
Server Management: Insight Manager Data Centre Edition includes tools to update patches and firmware across a number of servers at once using a remote console. Additional tools are available to migrate servers from other hardware and to convert physical servers into virtual servers.
The range includes Intel x86 and AMD based blades, as well as Itanium blades for running HP-UX. Connectivity options are comprehensive and include: fibre channel, Gigabit and 10Gb Ethernet, and Infiniband. The industry leading Virtual Connect Technology is simply the best way to connect servers to network LANs and SANs for the lowest costs and least amount of power.

"We have standardised on HP Blades for most of our systems including our UNIX database servers. The HP BL860 blades fit into our existing blade chassis alongside our Linux blades. This makes management easier and has reduced our maintenance costs considerably."
